Note:

Saquon Barkley

One could say that Saquon Barkley shouldn’t be eligible for the award because he only played in 13 games and didn’t finish the season on the field. But he is, and he is the favorite at every major sportsbook right now. He looks faster and more powerful than he has in the last two seasons, and the Giants are giving him more touches even though their offense isn’t excellent.

Christian McCaffrey

Even though Christian McCaffrey only played in seven games in 2021, he was still picked in the top three in most fantasy football drafts this offseason, and many experts put him at the top of the list. In his first three games, he has carried the ball 50 times for 243 yards and one touchdown. He has also caught 10 passes for 57 yards. You want to see 20+ touches per game, but the Panthers are a mess. If they aren’t doing well in the last third of the season, they might not use McCaffrey as much, which could hurt his chances of winning the award.

Brian Robinson Jr.

After being shot during the off-season, Brian Robinson Jr. is now a dark horse favorite. He’s on injured reserve, but he’s already doing agility drills and might be able to play again as soon as Week 5. He’ll have to share the backfield with Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic, but he was already expected to be the No. 1 RB before what happened. His story is by far the best of anyone on this list. Always stick to the plot.

Derrick Henry

Derrick Henry was a favorite to win this award before the season started, but the Tennessee offense has been slow so far. He has carried the ball 54 times in his first three games for 192 yards and two touchdowns. He has also caught five passes for 58 yards. The Titans have been slow to get going. If they can turn things around, it will probably be because they could lean on Henry.

James Robinson

The case of James Robinson is interesting. He has a price of +1600 at FanDuel Sportsbook, but it doesn’t look like he’s listed anywhere else. I’m not sure why that is at first glance. But he looks great, and because of his odds, he’s one of my favorite bets on this list. Robinson has 51 carries for 230 yards and three touchdowns through three games. He has also caught six passes for 33 yards and another touchdown. I’m willing to take a chance at 16-to-1 odds if he keeps doing well until his odds go down.
